ARRL 2007 FIELD DAY
A FUN "DAD & LAD" EVENT
Not quite sure how our Penn State University son, Chris (K3CMC) managed to do this, but along with getting himself on the Academic Dean's List this past college semester, he also found time to take and pass the "Extra" class FCC exam. Needless to say, with his newly upgraded ticket, he was a bit anxious to get on the air this Field Day and begin making contacts.
One of our goals this year, was to try to find contacts on as many Amateur bands as possible. So to help with this, we decided to use a long G5RV dipole together with an MFJ Antenna Tuner connected to an Icom IC-730 transceiver. In the end, we actually did manage a pretty decent amount of contacts on 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 meters.
The weather in EPA land (Eastern
Pennsylvania) was picture perfect for the entire weekend and lots of fun was had
by all. Looking forward to teaming up DAD & LAD again next year!
